About Lesson
🌲Plant Kingdom🌲
- Plants are different from animals in such a way that they are rooted in one place and they use spores or seeds for reproduction.
- They also make their own food using carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight, with the help of chlorophyll, which is in their leaves, in a process called photosynthesis.
- All the plants on the earth make up a kingdom called the plant kingdom.
- Plants are divided into two main groups, those that have flowers are called flowering plants, and others without flowers are called non-flowering plants.
🌲Characteristics of Kingdom Plantae🌲
The plant kingdom has the following characteristic features:
- Multicellular: Plants are made up of many cells.
- Eukaryotic: Plant cells have a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles.
- Autotrophic: Plants can make their own food using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide.
- Cell walls: Plant cells have cell walls made of cellulose.
- Non-motile: Plants cannot move around on their own.
- Reproduce sexually or asexually: Plants can reproduce sexually by producing seeds or asexually by vegetative propagation, such as stem cuttings or grafting.
