Roman Numerals 1 to 20

  • Roman numerals are a number system that originated in ancient Rome.
  • Instead of using the standard Arabic numerals we use today (1, 2, 3, etc.), the Romans had their way of writing numbers.
  • Roman numerals use letters from the Latin alphabet to represent values.
  • For example, I stands for 1, V for 5, X for 10, L for 50, C for 100, D for 500, and M for 1000.
  • By combining these letters in different ways, the Romans could write any number. So next time you see Roman numerals like IV (4) or IX (9), you’ll know how they work!
